Frequently asked questions

What is self-levelling compound?

Self-levelling compound is a liquid mix that is poured onto the floor and flows out into an even, level surface by itself. It is used to remove unevenness and small height differences before laying a floor covering.

Why is a primer needed before levelling compound?

A primer binds surface dust, evens out the absorbency of the subfloor and improves adhesion. Without a primer, the levelling compound may dry too quickly, crack or come away from the subfloor.

When can a floor covering be laid on levelling compound?

Drying time depends on the layer thickness, room temperature and humidity. The correct time is given in the product's technical data; check the subfloor moisture with a meter before installation.
