Frequently asked questions

When should I choose glue-down vinyl over click vinyl?

Glue-down vinyl is ideal for large rooms where a floating floor would need many expansion joints, and for heavily used commercial spaces. A glued floor is quieter and stays in place even under heavy furniture.

How should I prepare the subfloor for glue-down vinyl?

The subfloor must be very flat, dry, clean and sound, as thin LVT will show any unevenness. The base is usually primed and levelled with a self-levelling compound.

Which adhesive is used for vinyl flooring?

Use a dedicated vinyl flooring adhesive recommended by the plank manufacturer. The adhesive is applied to the subfloor with a notched trowel, and the planks are rolled after laying so that they bond evenly.

Can a glued vinyl plank be replaced later?

Yes, a single damaged plank can be cut out and replaced without lifting the whole floor. That's why it's worth keeping a few spare planks.
