Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between cork-backed vinyl and cork flooring?

Cork flooring has a natural cork surface, while cork-backed vinyl has a vinyl layer with a printed design. The vinyl surface is more hard-wearing and easier to clean, while the cork base makes it warmer and softer underfoot than standard vinyl.

Is cork-backed vinyl suitable for kitchens and children's rooms?

Yes, the vinyl surface withstands spills and dirt, and the cork base dampens footfall noise, so cork-backed vinyl works well in kitchens, hallways and children's rooms. It should not, however, be used in constantly wet areas.

Can cork-backed vinyl be laid over underfloor heating?

Yes, cork-backed vinyl can be used with underfloor heating, but the cork base insulates, so the room warms up slightly more slowly. Keep the floor surface temperature at no more than 27 °C and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
